You have to file all claims or lawsuits within the time that a state requires. All states have Statutes of Limitations to force people to file within these time frames so that claims do not go on forever. If you fail to make your claim and file your lawsuit within these limitations you will be barred from ever bringing your case and seeking compensation for your injuries.
